If you make payments over time (0% interest) they now require you to select a carrier. This means you get charged an activation fee for activating tje new device. It also means you can’t use that option if your carrier is not Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile.
Apple always does this before a big launch. Most likely they are applying site updates, major patches, etc.
Side note: thanks to Apple Card changes, this is the first phone I won’t be preordering.
They would have to have a home grown solution since Valve is unlikely to help them and other platforms like gamepass exist.
