@beehaw.orgI don't 'love' to 'hate' Oracle. For much of my career it seems like they've gone out of their way to make things more difficult than they need to be. If I had to calculate how much time fighting with their projects cost me (compared to everything else), they'd be at the head of the list (with one more zero at the left of the decimal point than Microsoft).
..and that's why Oracle fucked up the licensing on it. We are not allowed to have nice things.
Servers - btrfs. Fewer layers of abstraction, easier to manipulate.
Laptops - ext4. I don't do anything weird with the onboard storage, plus it supports fscrypt.
Flash drives - exFAT. I usually need to access them on multiple platforms and exFAT is about as cross-platform as VFAT (but supports bigger files).
There is no excuse, but there is a reason: Lots of people really like hateful, selfish douchebags.
The headline also undersells that, in the 90's if you got stomped the cops would tell you "Don't be a f* and this won't happen anymore."
