Attraction for the abyss? Isn't Miami also having a population boom despite of all the signs of floods incoming?
A principal diferença será provavelmente a visão "local", se estiveres no lemmy.pt vês logo aí todas as comunidades dessa instância.
If it's usual what's the point? These named heat waves are far from usual. You name dangerous and exceptional phenomena.
If they're more intelligent than us but with the same morals we're doomed, so we might have not time to adapt our religions.
Hard to believe was what was being asked 😅 the number is present in many websites about trash or composting, but I don't know it's exact origin. But I guess at some moment someone digged on a 25 year old landfill and found remains of a lettuce.
Even if this is exaggerating, the moral of the story is that it's such a waste to send organics to landfills at a time where we're losing soils at record pace. Food waste should be composted and returned to the soil.
But it's possible that that lettuce was a fresh and plastic wrapped thrown to the landfill like that, because that does happen as well. And maybe that created optimal conditions to prevent decomposition.
So your friend moved to Portugal and not only she adopted a Portuguese diet but went beyond and had a 100% fish diet that led to mercury poisoning? Sorry, but I'm also not buying this wild story.
You know there are McDonald's in Portugal as well and fish is far from being the cheapest or more common dish in university canteens in Portugal.
I agree, I think the names help and this one is scary as it should be. Like Lucifer last year. Hellish names make total sense with killing heat waves.
