sometimes it's enough to just be connected to the same wifi hotspot for a time. i've seen people i've met for the first time and spent an evening with bubbling up as friend recommendations instantly 10 years ago already, i'd assume they've gotten a lot better at it by now
MD has a companion app, and you have to grant it special rights via adb (read/write secure settings) first. might also work for tasker
yes and no. if you look at the number of reported CVEs, debian takes the crown of all operating systems. still feeling more secure on linux than any closed source system

i've had the same thought lately. the common arm design approach around the bootloader seems to turn old Android phones and tablets into e-waste sooner than necessary, in theory they could all run Linux and be useful for another ten years. but it's hard enough to port mainline Linux to Android devices, and almost impossible to get all the included hardware working properly
