@lemmy.oneBefore Void I was using Debian (then Devuan), and I used aliases for the package manager commands there too.
Anyway, I think the "the program name is too long" argument is even worse.
Why make the effort to switch to Firefox, if the browser that came installed with your device works?
Or, more realistically, people don't even grok the concept of a web browser.

For me it's alias pks='xbps-query -Rs'
and alias pki='xbps-install'
(package search and package install).
It is just different. GIMP is a general image editor. Darktable is for developing, retouching, and organizing photos. GIMP does a lot of things that Darktable doesn't. But for processing RAW photos, adjusting light, color, contrast, removing spots, it is much easier to do with Darktable.
