@Mandy
@sh.itjust.worksI have been really crusty with blender for a long time. Tried many tutorials to get back into it (all of them failed, latest being donut 4.0). So im just doing it without a tutorial i suppose, well, attempting it.
We all know the story, so many passion projects are taken down by companies and most commonly not even for reasons that make much sense.
Most recently I saw, portal 64 taken down by valve, you have to own portal, made for a dead old console.
Thats just one of many examples, which leads me to the actual question, why be under the very common threat of an uncaring ruthless company like this instead of creating something new? Or a company that doesn't openly kick people in their butt? ( Nintendo being so prone that valve didnt even wanna bother)
blender making it REALLY hard to continue using their software, who designed this change, i want the older layout back (bottom one is the old layout)
no matter which proton version i try to run the history edition in, the best it was able to do was launch into a blackscreen and throw a cant find uplay error, protondb was no help at all, none of the tips there helped, neither changing the engine ini, nor using lutris
im trying to get it to run on endeavouros and nvidia
the only anno 1404 version i was able to run was a torrented version from a collection of history editions
any help would be appreciated
apologies if this is a dump question but how do i see dms that have been marked as read? like i had one that i marked and forgotten to reply to
I have used linux for a couple of years now and it was one of the most bumpy beginnings (and ends) i ever had with software. There was little a moment that wasnt marred by some kind of problem.
I could write a book on all the problems i had encountered and some of them happen several times, but here are some highlights:
What broke the camels back today:
I stream, on wednesday my controller stopped working so i couldnt continue to stream, an hour after i stopped? the controller started working again great right? no, today the same shit, controller doesnt work.
Linux continues to have awful roadblocks that make even the most stubborn user (me) switch back to windows for now
But ah i am not dont yet, getting support from other users is about as much a fools errand as it is for windows, just sprinkled in with a lot more brown nosing elitism. And i imagine i will get similar comments here cause lemmy has the same circlejerks reddit has.
As long as linux continues having the most mundane problems with NO solution anywhere it wont get anywhere, if it werent for steamdeck it would still hover around at below 3%
See i like linux, i like how the ui feels and all, but i just cant anymore, i want shit to actually work and linux just cant provide that yet
Is it possible to increase the size of the bookmark this page window? userchrome voodoo or otherwise I always wondered why it was so tiny.
After years of promises of implementing playlists and quietly removing it from their featured to do list, id like to see what alternative yall could recommend thats equally permanent and allows you to create playlists?
By permanent i mean that with freetube, i dont have much fear that it will suddenly go dark like an invidious instance, id like to have something similar with an alternative if possible.
any help is highly appreciated.
some thumbnails are missing in nemo, the size for thumbnails is set to 64 gb, the curious thing is it fails to generate some SMALLER thumbnails, for example, i have one file thats around 100 mb, has a thumbnails, next to it one with 80, no thumbnail, i tried some common tricks like deleting totem.thumbnailer but nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated!
the system in question is running endeavouros with cinnamon
apologies for coming back with another question so quick, but im at a loss im trying to get a plugin that lets you show live translations of what you are saying on stream. I found a few but...its not working to say the least.
https://github.com/eddieoz/OBS-live-translation : uses two different sites and the second one doesnt allow the very files the guide wants you to upload https://github.com/occ-ai/obs-localvocal : uses deb files for some reason and doesnt work to install anywhere else (needs apt get) https://patrikzudel.me/ai-subtitles : uses openai, which i dont have access to http://www.sayonari.com/trans_asr/asr.html : only works for jap to eng and vice versa https://github.com/occ-ai/obs-polyglot : again, debs
any help would be very much appreciated
