@lemmy.worldThere is no clear front runner in that group and there will be no easy game, so every point is going to matter.
I'd like to see Milan and Dortmund move on but I have a feeling it will be Newcastle and PSG.
Every 100 million raised by player sales can fund 500 million of purchases if the players sign five-year contracts.
The problem with this theory is that it isn't perpetual and it ignores the debt that continues to grow. See below.
Kicking the can further down the road while accruing more dept isn't sustainable and I'm not sure what the end goal is. Spending 1b doesn't guarantee success (ask Man U fans) and if Chelsea can't get their shit together and get into CL regularly they will eventually end up in a financial dumster fire.
As for the players and the manager, I'm not optimistic in how it will all play out. Poch is a good manager and I'm sure he will turn things around from the mess that was last year, but I don't see how this squad gets beyond 7th, especially if Brighton, Brentford and Villa continue playing as well as they are.
You kind of saw this coming. Given how Partey is still playing and has been crucial for our success (at times) I'm guessing ManU figured if we haven't been crucified for doing nothing then they won't either.
Was it worth rushing him back for the Community Shield or Burnley? They realistically would have done just fine without him for those games and they only really have Newcastle to worry about until Oct, so I'm not sure what the rush to get him back was.
This is a massive signing for both teams, and I'm curious to see where he goes. Liverpool would be the smatter choice, but I'm sure Chelsea are willing to pay more. Either way both teams need him, but I'm sad to see him leave Brighton.
Without Kane, 8th or 9th place and with Kane maybe 6th, probably 7th.
Even with their easier schedule I still don't see them finishing above City, Arsenal, Newcastle, United or Liverpool. I'm inclined to add Villa to the list as well as I think Emery won't do as well as last year but they should still be very competitive.
Honestly feel like Chelsea and Tottenham are in the same boat and they should be fighting for 7th and 8th.
If Kane stays, it will only add fuel to the fire and the gossip will shift to which PL team he signs for.
