I think Wendy's surge pricing debacle was when we knew this would be the future as consumers but it's been in the works forever. It's the main reason we see so many points programs these days.
Hopefully we regulate this so these systems don't extract more from the needy than they already have. They're the ones most willing to give up their data to save money now, albeit at their own peril as it's used against them later.
